Titanium Zirconium Molybdenum Mould(TZM Mould)
Introduction
Mould is used for molding tools. It is commonly used in high-temperature environment, through injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, casting or forging molding, smelting, stamping molds and other methods to get the desired product and tools. So mould material should have good high temperature resistance, high strength, corrosion resistance and other excellent properties. Titanium zirconium molybdenum mould (TZM mould) has better high temperature property and mechanical property, so it is often as mould used in various fields. TZM alloy mechanical properties including elongation, elastic modulus, yield strength, tensile strength and fracture toughness are better than pure molybdenum. So TZM alloy is easy to process, and it can be processed into different shapes, used in different fields. In addition, TZM alloy also has good weldability, and it can be welded with other materials.
Classification
According to mould casting system mould can be divided into: edge gate mould, pin-gate mould and hot runner mould. Edge gate mould: runner and gate at the parting line, demoulding with product die sinking. It has a lot of advantages including the simplest design, low cost, easy processing, so many manufacturers prefer to work with edge gate mould. Pin-gate mould: runner and gate on the product, so it will have a more one set of gate parting line. The design is more complex and it is hard to difficult processing. Generally depending on the product requirements chose pin-gate mould. Hot runner mould: hot runner mould’s structure is similar with pin-gate mould. The biggest difference is that the runner is in one or more constant temperature hot runner plate and hot runner nozzle. Runner and sprue is in products, so the runners do not need to take off mould. Hot runner system is also known as non-gate system. TZM alloy has a relatively high temperature, high strength, corrosion resistance, high elastic modulus, low linear expansion coefficient, small vapor pressure, good thermal conductivity property and good other properties, is often used as the mould material used in various different areas. TZM mold is often used in hot runner system for good performance plastic materials production.
Other Mould Material
The most important factors for mould material selection are the thermal strength and thermal stability. Manufacturers usually choose mould materials according to the working temperature and the molding material. Generally, when the working temperature is lower than 300 ℃, mold material is typically selected zinc alloy Cr12, Cr12MoV, S-136, SLD, NAK80, GCr15, T8, T10. If working temperature is between 300 ~ 500 ℃, they generally choose aluminum alloy, copper alloy 5CrMnMo, 3Cr2W8,9CrSi, W18Cr4V, 5CrNiMo, W6Mo5Cr4V2 and M2. Working temperature at 500 ~ 800 ℃, people generally selected aluminum, copper alloys, steel, titanium GH130, GH33, GH37. At 800 ~ 1000 ℃, manufacturers generally use titanium alloy, steel, stainless steel, nickel alloy K3, K5, K17, K19, GH99, IN100, ЖC-6NX88, MAR-M200, TRW-NASA and WA. When temperature is higher than 1000 ℃, they generally used high temperature insoluble metal, such as TZM alloy, nickel alloy, copper alloy die, tungsten carbide.
