Molybdenum Disilicide and Silicon Carbide Rod
Molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2 heating element) and silicon carbide rods are both resistive heating element and has many good properties including high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance and so on, commonly used in ceramic magnetic materials, refractory materials and new materials production.
The distinctions of silicon carbide rod and molybdenum disilicide:1. The operation temperature of molybdenum dicilicide is much higher than silicon carbide rod. Silicon carbide rod's operation temperature is generally 1000 ~ 1400 ℃ and MoSi2 heating element is generally 1300 ~ 1700 ℃. Silicon carbide rod is generally applied in small kilns, small box-type furnace, muffle furnace and MoSi2 heating element is generally used in the roller kiln, large muffle furnace, box furnace and tube furnace. 2. Silicon carbide is generally based in parallel, supplemented in series, which can reduce the resistance, so that the temperature will not too high. Molybdenum disilicide rod is generally used in series mode, because the silicon molybdenum rod operation temperature is relatively high, installed in series is more convenient. 3. The silicon carbide rod and molybdenum disilicide production raw materials are different. MoSi2 heating element raw material is molybdenum disilicide and silicon carbide rod raw material is generally crystallized at high temperatures. 4. There is not aging problem on MoSi2 heating element during long-term used (aging: With the extension of time will increase the resistance), but the resistivity of silicon carbide rod will increase with time.
